HMM has announced the restructuring of its services with the launch of the revised Mediterranean Service 2 (MD2) and Korea Middle East – Pacific South (KMP), a new service that will be operational in early September 2025. This strategic shift marks the split of the former MP2 service into two separate and complementary offers.
Mediterranean Service 2 (MD2) now operates as a dedicated Asia–Mediterranean loop, directly connecting the main ports in both regions. The port rotation includes Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Kaohsiung, Shekou, Singapore, Cape of Good Hope, Tanger Med, Valencia, Barcelona, Genoa, Fos, before returning via Singapore and Busan.
This service offers extensive coverage of the western Mediterranean, with direct stops in Spain, Italy, France, and Morocco, thereby strengthening connectivity between Asia and the Mediterranean basin.
Tanger Med Port plays a key role as a strategic gateway to North Africa. On the East segment, the MD2 provides express service between the Western Mediterranean, Busan, and Central China, while also connecting Southeast Asia via Singapore.
